Oregon Ducks sophomore Carmela Cardama Baez wins the MPSF Indoor 5,000 title

Oregon's Carmela Cardama Baez won the 5,000 meters Friday in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships at Seattle's Dempsey Indoor.

Baez clocked a winning time of 15 minutes, 55.00 seconds.

Oregon's Rhesa Foster leaped 20 feet, 6 1/4 on her final attempt to win the MPSF long jump.

UO sprinter Ariana Washington ran into problems. Washington, who won the NCAA indoor title in the 200 and was third in the NCAA indoor 60, failed to qualify for the 60 final. Her preliminary time of 7.45 seconds (7.447) was the fastest non-qualifer, just behind Long Beach State's Courne' Davis, who finished in 7.
