Olympic Newcomers Highlight Day 3 in Tokyo

EUGENE, Ore. – Day three of the track and field schedule in Tokyo featured a trio of UO Olympic newcomers with Charlie Hunter closing out his experience with a semifinal appearance in the men's 800 meters. Additionally, Jillian Weir and Aneta Konieczek made their Olympic debuts in the women's hammer and steeplechase, respectively.

Hunter recorded a time of 1:46.73 in the opening semifinal of the men's 800 meters, good for seventh in the heat and 19th overall. He sat in second through the first lap but couldn't hold the position over the final 200 meters of the race.
