Mike Riley's big paycheck from Nebraska; Arizona's next coach could shake up the Pac-12

A couple things ...

-- Oregon State's hire of ex-OSU coach Mike Riley as assistant head coach looks more shrewd all the time.

Nebraska still is paying Riley his multi-million buyout, which means the Beavers get Riley's veteran counsel for first-year head coach Jonathan Smith at a bargain-basement price.

It also frees more money to spend on assistants such as highly regarded offensive line coach Jim Michalczik.

The more I see of the way Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes goes about business, the more impressed I am.
