Portland Track, the umbrella group that stages the Portland Track Festival and the Stumptown Twilight, has had a leadership change at the top, with former Nike executive MIchael Bergmann taking over for Scott Bush.
I chatted yesterday with Bergmann, who has been heavily involved in the sport at the grassroots level.
Some of the best runners in the world have appeared at the Portland Track Festival, the Stumptown Twilight, or both -- Olympic medalists Mo Farah, Galen Rupp, Evan Jager and Clayton Murphy among them -- in a relaxed, fan-centric atmosphere.
Bergmann said the two high-performance meets will go forward.
