Long jumper Brittney Reese gives the Prefontaine Classic crowd something to cheer about

EUGENE - Brittney Reese knew what she was doing Friday in the Prefontaine Classic long jump.

The 2012 Olympic gold medalist went big early and left a winner with a best mark of 23 feet, 0 inches before Hayward Field crowd estimated at 7,800.

Reese hit the winner with her second attempt, and Tianna Bartoletta couldn't surpass it.

Bartoletta, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist, finished second at 22-5. It was a good competition, with many of the jumps coming before the start of the running events. The crowd was into it.

"I love when the crowd gets involved," Reese said.
