Former Oregon Ducks Linebacker Michael Clay Joins 49ers As Assistant Coach

Former Linebacker Michael Clay learned the Linebacker position well when he was a payer for the Oregon Ducks. While his playing days in College gave him success, he could not find that same success at the next level, at least on the field. He was signed by the Miami Dolphins, but cut before the season even began during final roster cuts in August of 2013. He was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles under Chip Kelly and began his coaching career as an assistant in the NFL the following year.

In January of 2014 Michael Clay was named Defensive Quality Control Coach and two years later to the day on Wednesday, Clay once again joined his former Coach Chip Kelly to start new in San Francisco as Assistant Special Teams Coach.
