Washington’s first possession Saturday ended in a punt, after a pass to a running back was stuffed for two yards, one yard short of the marker. An Oregon safety raced in from the secondary to stop the play short, a demonstration of explosiveness and speed that made some folks watching think, that’s exactly why the Ducks moved Charles Nelson to defense.
Except, the safety who made that play wasn’t Nelson. It was his fellow starter that night, Juwaan Williams.
