Dillon Gabriel battled like the Spitfires fighting off the Luftwaffe in World War II, but took a loss in London Sunday morning, 21-17 in his first NFL start.
With 21 seconds to play and no timeouts he connected on passes of 22 and 29 yards to reach the Minnesota 27 but time ran out before he could get off another play.
For the game he completed 19-33 for 190 yards and two touchdowns, a decent performance for the first-year pro, a third-round draft choice from Mililani, Hawaii.
The Browns fell to 1-4. Leading 17-14 in the fourth quarter they had a chance to put the game away but punted four straight times in the period.
