It is amusing to go to ESPN.com and see the article, posted just yesterday, by NFL Insider par excellence, Adam Schefter, that there was “No way” that Chip Kelly would be hired for a new NFL coaching job this season, just across the page from the announcement that the San Francisco 49ers had just hired Chip Kelly as their new head coach.
The 49ers are a team in transition. They fired Jim Harbaugh despite making the playoffs every year of his tenure, and finished 5-11. They do have several picks, maybe as many as 10, in the coming Draft, and in Colin Kaepernick, provided he is fit after surgeries to his left shoulder, left knee and right thumb, the quarterback best suited to run his offense, that Chip will have had in the NFL.
