A few scattered thoughts in the wake of the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, which concluded yesterday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
-- The weather again was a factor. I've rarely covered a big event in June in the middle of the country where that hasn't been the case. I'm currently at the College World Series in Omaha, and on most days there has been almost as much talk about about thunder storms as fastballs.
Say what you want about Eugene, but rarely is a championship meet there held hostage to lighting delays.
