Canzano: Oregon Ducks get swallowed up by emotion, and Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Justin Herbert's final pass of a frustrating evening was batted away, and University of Oregon President Michael Schill hopped on one foot, grimaced, and then pivoted on the Ducks' sideline and headed for the exit.

Boosters Phil Knight and Ken O'Neil beelined toward the corner exit, too. Washington State was about to complete its 34-20 ambush of Oregon on Saturday. Police sirens were already wailing just beyond the gates of Martin Stadium. The Cougars' students, many of them up since 4:45 a.m. for the Game Day festivities, had a foot up, ready to start scaling the end zone railing and punctuate the madness.
