Wayde van Niekirk smashes 400 world record, 43.03

RIO DE JANEIRO — Wayde van Niekirk smashed the world record in the 400 on Sunday at Olympic Stadium, finishing in 43.03 seconds and taking .15 off Michael Johnson's record set in 1999.
