Four years ago in London the United States women’s volleyball team fell short of its goal of a gold medal, losing to Brazil in four sets in the gold medal match. This time around the Americans look for gold in Rio, and Saturday afternoon that quest begins with a group play match against Olympic debutantes Puerto Rico at 4:00 p.m. Eastern. The match will be streamed live at NBCOlympics.com, and it will also be available on the NBC Sports app.
In addition to looking to get over the hump that is Brazil, which has defeated the United States in the gold medal match of each of the last two Summer Olympics, the Americans are led by a head coach looking to make history.
