Group D takes its Olympic bows when Algeria and Honduras match up at the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.
The 2 p.m. EDT kickoff sees a pair of sides who know a win is absolutely necessary with both Argentina and Portugal on the horizon.

Honduras will have a pair of national team veterans in Olimpia’s Johnny Palacios and Romell Quioto, and boasts youngsters Anthony Lozano on Tenerife and Real Monarchs youngster Elder Torres.
Algeria will look to Sporting Gijon veteran Rachid Aït-Atmane among a trio of overage players (though Ait-Atmane is 23, he just missed the cut-off).
