The evening session Thursday will provide fans with some great television, as Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte both qualified for the men’s 200m individual medley final. That means they’ll have one last duel in the pool, with Lochte looking to finally beat Phelps in this race. The two U.S. swimmers account for six of the last nine Olympic medals awarded in the event (three gold for Phelps, two silver and one bronze for Lochte).
The men’s 200 IM is one of four finals being held Thursday night, with the women’s 200 breast being the first. No Americans qualified for the final but Denmark’s Rikke Moller Pedersen, the current world record holder in the 200 breast, is in the field as is Australia’s Taylor McKeown.
