USA Track and Field names Olympic head coaches

The University of Oregon’s Vin Lananna and four-time Olympic thrower Connie Price-Smith were named USA Track and Field’s head coaches for the Rio 2016 Olympics on Wednesday.

The men’s coach Lananna is an associate athletic director at Oregon, where he was first hired as its track coach in 2005 and stepped into the broader role in 2012.

The women’s coach Price-Smith, a shot put and discus thrower, competed in the 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics and has coached at Southern Illinois, her alma mater, the last 14 years.
