GANGNEUNG, South Korea – Three familiar names are in the lead Sunday at the halfway point of the Olympic figure skating team competition: Canada, the Olympic Athletes from Russia and the United States.
Four years ago in the inaugural Olympic team event in Sochi, the results were Russia, Canada and the USA. This time around, Canada has the slightly stronger team and has surged into the lead after the short programs of pairs, men, dance and women.
On the strength of its dance and pairs teams particularly, Canada has received 35 points, with OAR second with 31 and the Americans a solid third with 29.
