USA Gymnastics tried to buy McKayla Maroney’s silence. According to the Wall Street Journal, it paid the Olympic gold medalist $1.25 million to settle her claims and to hold her tongue about the sexual abuse she endured from disgraced team doctor Larry Nassar.

This is a deal that deserves condemnation and demands explanation.
