HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — As many of the top American gymnasts gather in suburban Chicago for the Secret Classic, they are wondering the same thing.

Martha Karolyi, the U.S. women’s team coordinator, is once again the key figure for gymnasts to impress as the Rio Olympics near. Her job is harder than ever this time around as the United States has many more qualified athletes than spots on the world and Olympics teams.

Simone Biles is the two-time defending world champion who continues to add difficulty to her routines every season. Aly Raisman won two golds for the United States in the London Olympics.
