Team USA taps four-time Olympian luger to serve as flag bearer at 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Erin Hamlin, a four-time Olympian luger, will serve as Team USA’s flag bearer at Friday’s opening ceremony for the Winter Games.

Hamlin, a two-time world champion and bronze medalist at the 2014 Sochi games, is the fourth U.S. luger to be tapped with the honor.

Hamlin’s 2014 medal showing broke a 34-year stranglehold of the podium held by German and Austrian women. Her star turn at the Sochi games was a surprise as she had not finished on the world cup podium for the two years leading up to the Sochi Games.
