Tatyana Volosozhar, Maksim Trankov pull out of Grand Prix series

Olympic pairs champions Tatyana Volosozhar and Maksim Trankov are finished for the Grand Prix season, according to Russia’s figure skating federation.

The Russians withdrew from next weekend’s NHK Trophy in Japan due to an injury that Volosozhar suffered before they competed at last weekend’s Trophée Bompard in Bordeaux, France, according to the federation.

Volosozhar and Trankov took the 2014-15 season off, were married and returned to top-level international competition in Bordeaux for the first time since Sochi.

They led Trophée Bompard with the highest pairs short program score this Grand Prix season.
