Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone pulls out of world championships due to injury

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, the reigning world champion in the women's 400-meter hurdles, won't be adding to her medal collection in Budapest this summer.

McLaughlin-Levrone announced Friday on Instagram that she has withdrawn from the world track and field championships due to a minor knee injury.

“I am sad to share that I must withdraw from this year’s world championships meet in Budapest,” McLaughlin-Levrone wrote on social media. “After consulting with my doctors and coaches, I need to take care of a minor knee issue so that I can be fully healthy for next years’ Paris Olympics.
