Sun Yang wins 200 free, Conor Dwyer takes bronze

Having already won one medal in the Rio Olympics, taking silver in the 400 meter freestyle, China’s Sun Yang won gold in the 200 meter freestyle Monday night. Yang came back to beat South Africa’s Chad Le Clos, who jumped out to a solid lead over the first 100 meters of the event.

Taking the bronze medal was Conor Dwyer of the United States, who finished the race in 1:45.23 to earn his first individual Olympic medal. Dwyer nearly chased down Le Clos, who finished in 1:45.20, but the Winnetka, Illinois native ran out of time in the end.
