The U.S. beat Russia by just four medals in 2000, while the past three Games were decided by margins of 11, 10 and 15 medals over either Russia (2004) or China (2008 and 2012). But with Russia's track and field and weightlifting teams out of the picture, 2016 was an absolute blowout. The Americans finished with 121 medals. China was second with just 70.
