Swiss tennis star Stan Wawrinka is pulling out of the Olympics with a back injury.

Citing “local overstress” after recent pain led to an MRI, Wawrinka said he’s “very sad” to miss what would’ve been his third-straight Olympics.

The 31-year-old is the world’s No. 4 ranked male, and won gold alongside Roger Federer in mixed doubles at Beijing 2008.

Wawrinka was the flag bearer for Switzerland at London 2012.
