MOSCOW — Russia’s deputy sports minister, who was suspended after accusations that he coordinated a doping scheme at the 2014 Winter Olympics, has resigned, the government reported on Monday.
Yuri D. Nagornykh was the highest ranking Russian government official suspended in the wake of accusations of a state-sponsored doping scheme. Revelations of the doping program led to the barring of nearly a third of Russia’s Olympic team from the Rio Games — including the entire track and field team.
