Rio Olympic Site’s Payments Suspended

The Brazilian state lender Caixa Economica Federal confirmed that after receiving a court order, it had suspended payments to a consortium building a complex where events in 11 sports, including rugby sevens and BMX biking, are to be held at the Rio Olympics. The lender said it could not give a reason for the suspension because the case was under seal, but reports indicated that the court suspected corruption and blocked funding.
