RIO DE JANEIRO – Concerns over the security of Olympic athletes surfaced again in the early hours Thursday morning as a report arose that a Great Britain team member had been robbed at gunpoint.

As the controversy and confusion surrounding four Ryan Lochte and three other American swimmers, who also said they were held up by robbers, continued to swirl, The Guardian reported that Britain’s competitors had been warned not to leave the Olympic Village.

The newspaper said that an unnamed member of the British team had been “held up at gunpoint while enjoying a night on the town” in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
