Canoeists at an Olympic test event in Rio de Janeiro complained about the polluted water at the site but were most outspoken about aquatic plants that tangled their oars and rudders. The German canoeist Franziska Weber called the floating weeds “unfair.”
Franziska also described the water color as “red and brown. It’s not the typical water color.”
