The track and field portion of the Olympics is one of the most popular and anticipated of the Summer Games.
There is plenty of excitement to start Friday off in Rio. The events include the qualifying round of the men's discus throw and the women's shot put, as well as Round 1 of the men's 800m and the 100m hurdles and high-jump portion of the women's heptathlon.
Champions will also be decided in the women's 10,000-meter race featuring Molly Huddle, one of the best female long-distance runners in the world, who will try to join Shalane Flanagan (2008) and Lynn Jennings (1992) as the only women from the United States to earn a medal in this event.
