The opening ceremony is often the most highly anticipated moment of the entire Summer Olympics. While fans might not know what to expect from Rio de Janeiro over the next few weeks, this year's opening event at least promises to be entertaining.
Fans in the United States won't get a chance to watch the presentation live. As Cindy Boren of the Washington Post noted, the festivities will start in Brazil at 7 p.m. ET, while NBC will begin its broadcast at 8 p.m. ET.
Even with the one-hour delay, there will still be plenty to watch Friday.
