RIO DE JANEIRO – Carmelo Anthony told the story again Thursday, that humbling tale from 10 years ago about Team USA men’s basketball and its fall from grace.
And as is always the case when the New York Knicks’ star goes down this oratory road, he made it all sound as if it were, well, yesterday.
“Standing on that (FIBA World Championships) court (in Japan) and watching Greece celebrate (after a semifinal win over the Americans), knowing that we were considering ourselves and calling ourselves the best players in the world, and at that moment we weren’t,” Anthony said.
