No Rio double for Allyson Felix after fourth-place finish in 200m final

Allyson Felix‘s fourth-place finish in the 200m final at the U.S. Track and Field Trials on Sunday night spoiled her chances of a 200-400 Rio double.

2015 World 100m bronze medalist Tori Bowie won the event in 22.25 seconds, Oregon sprinter Deajah Stevens (22.30) came in second, and former Duck Jenna Prandini (22.53) finished in third. Felix’s 22.54-second run came within .01 seconds of Prandini’s third and final spot.

Despite arriving in Eugene for Trials with a “significant amount of pain” every time she runs after partially tearing right ankle ligaments during an April workout, Felix won the 400m last Sunday with the fastest time recorded in the world this year.
