National anti-doping bodies propose global reforms

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A coalition of national anti-doping bodies has proposed a rule that would prohibit officials of the IOC or other major sports bodies from holding a top role in anti-doping organizations.

Leaders of 17 anti-doping associations met in Copenhagen to consider ways of fixing a "global anti-doping effort that has been deeply damaged."

In a bid to remove any conflict of interest, employees or decision-makers of any anti-doping agency would be barred from also holding a policy-making role in the IOC or other sports body. The World Anti-Doping Agency's current president is IOC member Craig Reedie of Britain.
