Moroccan boxer jailed over sexual assault allegations in Olympic village

Rio police have arrested a Moroccan boxer days before he’s due to compete in the Games.

Hassan Saada, 22, is alleged to have sexually assaulted two Brazilian workers in the Olympic village.

A police statement says the attack happened on Wednesday. Saada is scheduled to fight Turkey’s Mehmet Nadir Ünal on Saturday, but according to the Associated Press:

Police say Saada will be jailed for a period of 15 days while they conduct a rape investigation. Under Brazilian law, suspects can be held for a long period of time while a case is examined.
