Misty May-Treanor competes for first time in 3 years, not a comeback

Misty May-Treanor is scheduled to compete in her first AVP beach volleyball tournament since the London 2012 Olympics at the Seattle Open this week but isn’t making a comeback, her agent and a tournament spokesman confirmed Monday.

May-Treanor, 38, retired after winning her third straight Olympic title with Kerri Walsh Jennings at the London Games.

She is pairing with friend Brittany Hochevar this week but does not plan to play after that or try to make a fifth Olympic team in Rio de Janeiro next year, her agent said. Hochevar was in need of a partner, and May-Treanor is helping her out.
