Mikaela Shiffrin came into these Games with the goal of competing in five events. She did so, though she fell short of her goals, failing to finish three races and coming in ninth and 18th in two others.
She is competing in her sixth race on Saturday: a mixed team event, the only mixed gender ski racing event at the Winter Games. This is the second time this event has been held at an Olympic Games.
“Why do I keep coming back? Gosh knows it hurts more than it feels good lately,” she said on Twitter after failing to finish her final individual event.
