Men’s downhill tries again after high winds delayed competition a day.

Athletes and Olympic organizers will try again to hold the men’s downhill competition after high winds forced the race to be put off on Sunday.

The race will begin at noon on Monday (11 p.m. Eastern on Sunday), between the first and second heats of the women’s giant slalom. The giant slalom and the downhill take place on different slopes and with different skiers, but organizers — and especially broadcasters — preferred not to run two high-profile events at the same time.

Olympic Alpine races are usually held at established courses. On occasions when a new, unfamiliar track is selected, test events and training opportunities are traditionally held on the course for a year or more before the Games.
