RIO DE JANEIRO — The U.S. men's 400 free relay won gold Sunday, adding to Michael Phelps' record medal haul.
The Americans won in 3:09.92. France was second, about a half-second behind the U.S. followed by Australia.
Phelps swam the second leg of the relay. Caeleb Dressel was the leadoff leg, followed by Phelps, then Ryan Held. America’s best sprinter, Nathan Adrian, was the anchor.
Phelps now has 23 Olympic medals to his name, including 19 gold, the most of all time.
