Kristian Ipsen, a diving bronze medalist four years ago in the men’s synchronized springboard event, is going to the Rio Games as an individual. He handily won the men’s springboard competition at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials on Saturday in Indianapolis.
Michael Hixon, who earned a berth in Rio earlier this week with Sam Dorman in the synchronized springboard event, placed second in the individual event.
Placing fourth was four-time Olympian Troy Dumais, who was bidding to become the first diver to make five U.S. Olympic teams.
