Kerron Clement edges Kenyan runner to restore American gold in 400m hurdles

Kerron Clement has restored order to the 400m hurdles at the Olympics.

The 2008 silver medalist is now the 2016 gold medalist after blazing a 47.73 to edge Boniface Tumuti of Kenya on Thursday in Rio.

Yasmani Copello of Turkey took bronze.

The United States has now won 7 of the last 9 golds in the men’s 400m hurdles finals. Both exceptions were the 2004 and 2012 victories from Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic.

The result is a season best for Clement (in more ways the one).
