Katie Ledecky wins Female Athlete of the Olympic Games

WASHINGTON -- After a dominant performance in Rio, swimmer Katie Ledecky won Female Athlete of the Olympic Games at an award show featuring Olympians and Paralympians on Wednesday night.

Ledecky wore one of her gold medals on the red carpet at the 2016 Team USA Awards presented by Dow, Best of the Games held at Georgetown’s McDonough Arena. In Rio, she won gold in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle events and the 4x200 freestyle relay. Her silver came as part of the 4x100 free relay. She was the first woman to sweep the 200, 400 and 800 freestyles in 48 years.
