LIMA, Peru (AP) — The International Olympic Committee is seeking more information about an alleged vote-buying scheme for the Rio Olympics that has landed one of its own members in legal trouble.
The IOC released a statement during its executive board meeting Monday, saying its ethics commission is following up on allegations against Carlos Nuzman, who led the organizing committee for the Rio Games.
Nuzman was held by Brazilian police for questioning last week. French and Brazilian authorities say he was key in channeling $2 million to former IOC member Lamine Diack as part of the scheme to bring the Games to Brazil.
