Galen Rupp won the 10,000m race on day one of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore., qualifying him for a second event at the Rio Olympics.
The 2012 Olympic silver medalist in the 10,000m, Rupp won with a time of 27:55.04. Shadrack Kipchirchir finished second with 28:01:52 and Leonard Korir placed third with 28:16:97 to also qualify for the 2016 Olympic team.
Rupp ran 26.2 miles for the first time in February at the the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials–and he won, earning an Olympic berth in the event. But Rupp may choose not to do both the marathon and 10,000m in Rio.
