Emily Seebohm, top rival to Missy Franklin, dislocates kneecap

Australian Emily Seebohm suffered a dislocated kneecap a little more than two months before the World Championships, where she will hope to dethrone Missy Franklin in the 100m and 200m backstrokes.

Seebohm, 22, took silver in the 100m back behind Franklin at the 2012 Olympics and 2013 World Championships. She then defeated Franklin in the event at the major international meet of 2014, the Pan Pacific Championships in Gold Coast, Australia, where Franklin was slowed by a back injury.

Seebohm actually posted the fastest 100m back at London 2012, breaking the Olympic record in the prelims. She went slower in the final and lost to Franklin by .
