Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro likely woke up believing that he men’s tennis match against Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, the world’s top-ranked player, would be the only challenge he would face Sunday. Unfortunately for Del Potro that wasn’t the case, as he was stuck in an elevator for nearly an hour Sunday morning.
But to his credit Del Potro didn’t allow that incident to mess up his day, and by the end of it he’s managed to upset Djokovic in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2). Next up for Del Potro is Portugal’s Joao Sousa, who eliminated Robin Haase of the Netherlands in straight sets.
