Diver Kassidy Cook perseveres, makes her first Olympic team

When Kassidy Cook arrives at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre, where the Olympic diving competition will be held, she hopes familiarity will calm her nerves.

Cook, 21, will compete in her first Olympics after winning the 3-meter springboard event at the Olympic trials by a large margin in June in Indianapolis.

Last February she was seventh at the FINA World Cup held in Rio de Janeiro, qualifying a spot in the Olympics for the U.S. team.

“I definitely feel like I have more of an idea of what to expect,” she said earlier this month before leaving with the team for Rio.
