RIO DE JANEIRO -- Rio 2016 Organizing Committee spokesman Mario Andrada said visitors were stuck in line for hours Saturday morning at several events, including venues at the main Olympic Park.
Andrada said they were working to speed up the screening of fans as they go through security checkpoints.
Saturday is the first full day of competition.
“We apologize to everyone who’s standing in the sun in line outside the venues,” Andrada said. “We obviously need to upgrade that part of the game.
