Cuban stripped of silver medal in 2008 discus for doping

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Yarelys Barrios of Cuba has been stripped of the silver medal in the women's discus from the 2008 Beijing Olympics after testing positive in a reanalysis of her doping samples.

The IOC says Barrios tested positive for acetazolamide, a banned diuretic and masking agent.

She has been retroactively disqualified and loses the silver medal, which now stands to go to Olena Antonova of Ukraine. China's Song Aimin is in line to move from fourth to bronze.

Barrios also competed at the 2012 London Olympics, where she was upgraded to the bronze medal after a Russian was stripped of the silver for doping.
