Christof Innerhofer carries gate for half his run, takes fourth in downhill (video)

Olympic downhill silver medalist Christof Innerhofer skied through a gate, carried remnants of the gate for the final minute of his run and finished fourth in a World Cup downhill in Santa Caterina, Italy, on Tuesday.

Innerhofer’s hardship came one week after Austrian Marcel Hirscher was nearly hit by a falling drone camera during a World Cup night slalom in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. Hirscher finished second in that race.

France’s Adrian Theaux won Tuesday’s downhill by 1.04 seconds over Austrian Hannes Reichelt. France’s David Poisson was third, keeping Innerhofer off the podium by .
